Design lightweight learning content

Choose what helps people understand on phones. Plan a readable activity before multiplying formats.

Lightweight content is easy to read and gives a clear action to take. Ask: what does this person need in order to act? Text, a diagram or a short video are options to choose around the answer.

1. Keep one purpose per activity

Name what the reader needs to be able to do. Organise an explanation, activity and feedback around that action. A clear title helps people find their way.

2. Choose a format for its usefulness

A physical action may benefit from video; an instruction may fit in text. Provide a readable alternative for important information contained in an image or video.

3. Check under real conditions

Read it on a small screen, measure download size and try a constrained connection. Only announce offline availability once it has been checked.
